Sam Scharf

I am really excited about the work our wonderful little group is putting out for this event.  Although we don't have a direct unifying thread among the work I think we are all approaching contemporary sculptural ceramics in unique and relevant ways.  This is a hard working group that has come together to make CCACA a reality for SOU.  Looking forward to heading to Davis to share our pieces in a few weeks!

The pieces I am bringing to CCACA are part of a greater body of work in which I am exploring the relationship between humanity and nature.  I am interested in the underlying symbolism that some artistic media can represent.  Through the manipulation of these materials I hope to engage the viewer in a study of the oddities of human action and ritual.
